Please pose NCLI and EE questions
A National Town Hall Meeting with Arne Duncan
On October 20 on the Department of Education's Education News Parents Can Use television series, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will engage teachers across the country in a town hall forum about what's working and what's not working in U.S. schools. Live from Washington, D.C., PBS television station WETA, the secretary will respond to comments and questions from teachers in the studio audience and via telephone and e-mail. The conversation will address ways to improve the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, now called No Child Left Behind; better methods for recruiting, preparing, and rewarding teachers; ideas for elevating the teaching profession; and much more. The program will air 8-9 p.m. Eastern Time.

Subject: NAAEE Action Network October Call Reminder
Hi folks!
Just a reminder that our monthly Action Network Call will be taking place tomorrow (10/1) at 1pm EST.
Like last month, I don't anticipate tomorrow's updates taking the full call time, so the latter part of the agenda will be an open forum. This will provide an opportunity for states to report any recent progress, challenges, and questions they might have in the areas of advocacy and/or ELPs. You are all out there doing such incredible work and it is important that we share this experience with each other! Also, if you've encountered a hurdle in your work with advocacy or ELP development, chances are someone else on the call might have faced a similar challenge. Pose a question to the group or ask for feedback on an approach you're considering. I have to say, this segment was my favorite part of last month's call. Glad we'll be able to repeat it.
Also, I've attached the notes from last month's call. Thanks as always to Rian Smith, our fabulous note taker!
