Climate Change in PA - Learn How to Be Part of the Solution

Training Workshop 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

WHAT:

National Audubon Society and the Philadelphia Zoo invite you to attend an invitation only workshop about federal climate change policy, impacts in PA, and the ways that you can enhance your effectiveness as an environmental leader and climate change activist in your community, your business, your school, and/or your family.

WHEN:

Tuesday, April 21
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
A rain or shine event; it includes outdoor walking in unpaved areas .

COST:

$10 (includes lunch and zoo entrance)*

*PARKING: Participants are responsible for the $12 parking fee at the zoo. Those interested in carpooling will be sent information about other participants from your area.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS: The program features three main activities. Participants can elect to skip the outdoor sections before and after the classroom training.
Bird Banding Observation
(8:30 - 10 AM)

Participants will carpool to a site in the West Park section of Fairmount Park to observe and learn of the Migrant Stopover Ecology Study. The Philadelphia Zoo and Audubon Pennsylvania are working in partnership with researchers at Wildlife Conservation Society/Bronx Zoo Department of Ornithology to assess the ecological value of this habitat. (In the event of heavy rain, the field trip to West Park will be cancelled and the presentation will be in Independence Schoolhouse.)

Classroom Training (10 AM - 3:30 PM)

This main section includes presentations by local civic and environmental leaders. Workshop participants will engage in collaborative group exercises throughout the program.

Zoo Tour
(3:30 - 4:30 pm)

This special behind-the-scenes tour includes a look at some of the animals and is combined with a sustainability tour highlighting a few of the recent green practices  implemented at the zoo.
