A good opportunity to get some attention for an environmental event in April focused on kids is detailed here. In fact on the monthly NAAEE call this week, Brian said to even follow these instructions for events in May and June. In this way you are also supporting the No Child Left Inside Coalition. April 2009 is No Child Left Inside Days
--------IMPORTANT UPDATE!----------
Congressman Sarbanes has offered to invite your Member of Congress to your NCLI Days event. Simply register your event on the NCLI Days Google map, including your contact information, and the Congressman's office will extend the invitation on your behalf. To insure that the contact can be properly followed up, please also send your own invitation to your Member of Congress, and register your event with Lucas Johnson, NCLI grassroots coordinator, ljohnson at cbf.org. Please register your event as soon as possible, as the Congressman Sarbanes may have an opportunity to list your event on the Congressional Recess Calendar.
See below for more information on creating an NCLI Days Event, and thanks for supporting environmental education!
Please join us in this national effort to highlight the importance of environmental education. As part of the NCLI Days campaign we are urging environmental, education, conservation and all other interested organizations to work with schools in your community to showcase engaging, environmental education activities.
What Can You Do?
· Create an NCLI Days event to showcase the importance of connecting students with nature. Invite students to participate in existing activities in April (including Arbor Day, Earth Day and National EE Week activities), or invite your community to learn about the work that you are doing in schools and on schoolyards.
· Get resources from the NCLI Coalition by accessing our NCLI Days online toolkit. You can also find out how to get a copy of our Get 'Em Outside DVD and other materials for your event.
· Invite your Members of Congress to participate in your event and learn how valuable and engaging environmental education experiences can be.
· Invite the local media to learn more about your program and cover your event.
· Share your event with your community and with the National NCLI Coalition. After posting your event on the website, share your successes by forwarding account, press clippings, and photos that we can post online. Send your event info to:

The goal of these events is to highlight environmental education and make sure that the media and members of Congress know about a critical piece of legislation, the No Child Left Inside Act, which would vastly expand and improve environmental education in our public schools. (IMPORTANT NOTE: The No Class Left Inside Days campaign is designed to support the goals of the No Child Left Inside coalition. However, we do not intend that students should be involved in advocating for the goals of the coalition, but instead that be handled by organizations involved in the coalition.)
