[PAEE] Conference 2007 - 5 Freebies

The excitement is building as the "No Child Left Inside" conference approaches:  April 12-15.  If you have not yet registered, we hope you will do so soon.  The conference brochure and registration form are on the PAEE website: www.paee.net.  
Free Pre Conference Tours

Whether coming from the North, South, East or West, there is a free pre conference event for you to attend.  Each location has a website where you will find maps and directions.

·  1:00 p.m. - Green Building Guided Tour of the Pocono Environmental Education Center.  Learn about the various choices PEEC made to create the green building you will tour.  You will also have the opportunity to walk the beautiful grounds of the center located near the Delaware River.  Great hiking and birding too.

·  1:00 p.m. - Keystone College Willary Water Center.  Visit the college's outdoor educational site and learn about their award- winning program from the people who created it.

·  1:30 p.m. - The Seven Tubs - Walk this geological phenomenon, and be sure to take your camera.  Open before the regular season for PAEE conference participants only.

·  2:00 p.m. - Hickory Run State Park Boulder Field - A park ranger will take you on a tour of this unique site, the remains of the last ice age.  Cameras and binoculars recommended.

  a.. 2:00 p.m. - Nescopeck State Park -  "Literature and the Environment" - Jeff Hoagland, Education Director, Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association - Join this discussion group to examine the role of environmental literature in our lives as teachers, environmental educators or activists. An overview of classic environmental literature and notable anthologies is included.  Participants will discuss favorite books and authors, sharing meaningful passages.   In order to maximize the success of this session, registrants should bring their favorite book in the category of environmental literature.  They should also be prepared to share thoughts, favorite passages.  We will NOT define the term "environmental literature" here, leaving it open to everyone's interpretation, but please note that we are excluding children's books (below 7th grade).
