[dvs] Thermostat setting

Jennifer,

It's been my experience that the most efficient setting varies with
structure and heating/cooling systems. Technically speaking you can
have as much as a thirty or thirty-five degree variation if the system
can handle it. The contents can. You can have that much on a spring or
fall day without htg. or cooling.

My hot water system isn't running as efficiently at the moment and
it's slow to recover from my 6 degree setback.... I cheat a bit lately
and go to four or five when it gets really cold at night. When I had
forced air I could easily run a 10 degree setback and recover quickly
in the morning. When out of the house I do about 8 degrees because
coming in I'm dressed and a cool house seems warmer than when I get
out from under my down comforter in the morning.
