[dvs] Help make energy efficiency a reality

I would love to take the pledge, but can't figure out how to do it with my life style. I don't work, and drive my special needs son to a lot of places everyday. I am trying to encourage walking as much as possible to places nearby. I started walking to those within a mile of our home, and am now expanding it to 2 miles time permitting. I had our son walk home 4 miles one day and soon he should be able to bike that when it is light enough. Thank you all for taking the pledge. It would be nice if I lived closer to where public transit is more available, but I will keep trying to find more ways to use it. I did buy a hybrid bike powered by battery and human energy, and hope to be able to take it further as I build up my muscles, then to get one for our son so we can do it together whenever possible. Another thing I just did when I had to go downtown into Philly from the Blue Bell suburbs was to drive to Chestnuthill and took the train from there, then attended a meeting in Chestnuthill upon my return, then drove home from there. For me in the car dependent suburbs, that was a start. I admire those of you who can do more. It makes moving closer to public transit look very inviting, but more importantly, I want to start growing more of our own food in our yard, so probably better stay put for now. Thank you all for inspiring me even though I can't totally join you quite yet.
